Cus Pisa Selections: Latest Updates & News

Pisa, 27 December 2025 – The selections for the 2026 National University Championships (CNU), the most important Italian university sporting event, are officially open. Federcusi has in fact communicated that the 2026 edition of the CNU has been assigned to Cus Piemonte Orientale and will take place from 22 to 31 May 2026. This year too the University of Pisa will be called to compete with over fifty Italian University Sports Centers in numerous disciplines. The preliminary qualifying phases will take place between February and May 2026 and will serve to identify the male and female athletes who will represent the University in the national phase.

Participation in the 2026 National University Championships is open to male and female students of any nationality, born between 1 January 1998 and 31 December 2008, regularly enrolled in a university course of study recognized by the Ministry of University and Research, including master’s degrees, doctorates and specialization schools, or graduated in the calendar year in which the Championships are held. The CNU program includes both individual sports – including athletics, judo, karate, wrestling, fencing, taekwondo, tennis, table tennis, shooting and shooting – and team sports such as volleyball, basketball and five-a-side football.

As regards the methods of access to the national phase, team sports include selections and qualification phases, which will take place, as mentioned, between February and May 2026. Individual sports, however, directly access the national final of the Championships. Male and female athletes therefore have the opportunity to immediately compete with the highest Italian university level. The selections are also open to male and female athletes registered with other sports clubs, as long as they are registered at the University of Pisa. An important opportunity for those who practice sports at a competitive level and wish to represent their University in an event that combines competition, university spirit and sporting values.

The path towards the CNU 2026 starts from the excellent results obtained by CUS Pisa in the 2025 edition. In fact, from Ancona, the Pisan delegation returned with a very important haul: three gold medals, seven silver and two bronze, thanks to the commitment of 55 male and female athletes who defended the yellow and blue colours. For 2026 the objective is to confirm the quality of the Pisan university sports movement and improve it further. “The National University Championships are one of the most beautiful sporting events at university level” comments Chiara Figliucci, councilor delegated for university activities.

“There is a lot of joy, there is passion and competitiveness and, especially in the final stages, they involve one hundred percent, from check-in to the competitions up to the moments of celebration. My hope is that many students take this opportunity, get involved and choose to represent the University of Pisa, bringing enthusiasm, commitment and pride for the yellow and blue colors to the competition”.
