The 52nd edition of the Houilles bullfight takes place this Sunday, December 21. In addition to the festive aspect, the Yvelin event offers a 10 km race called the Ace Race, sponsored by Étienne Daguinos (French 10 km record holder, participant in the Olympics, and member of the French team) who will be present but who will not run.
This will not prevent us from having a nice field with headliners like Yann Schrub (multiple French champion and European medalist), Simon Bédard (tricolor hopeful from the distance), Abrha Gebru (Ethiopian runner with international honors) and among the women Mélody Julien, Manon Trapp (French 10 km champion), Clarysse Picard (vice-champion of France in cross) and Fadouwa Ledhem.
All will try to succeed a certain Jimmy Gressier, winner a year ago in Houilles. An event which brought luck to the future 10,000m world champion.
The aces race will end the day with a start at 3:45 p.m. Previously, other events will have enlivened the afternoon with the children’s race (1 p.m.), which will bring together 200 young people born between 2015 and 2019, then the popular 10 km at 2 p.m. with 2,500 participants.
The start is given from the Place du 14-Juillet in the center of Houilles. “The runners will have three laps of a 3.3 km loop to complete,” explains Sébastien Sapei, the manager of SO Houilles, the organizer of the bullfight. There is only one difficulty with a climb, rue Camille Pelletan. »
Organizers of the Corrida de Houilles for two years, Sébastien Sapei and his team are working to increase the field for future editions. “The current capacity is 3,000 runners due to the narrow streets of the course. We would like to increase the number of 500 runners but we will have to modify the route with wider streets. » In short, the very first bullfight in Île-de-France created in 1972 still has a bright future ahead of it.
