Colombian archers Alejandra Usquiano and Andrés Hernández became champions in their respective sports during the Rio Indoor World Series 250, an international competition held from December 12 to 14 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The event corresponded to the fourth stage of the Indoor World Series, the highest level circuit of indoor archery worldwide, and was organized by the Brazilian Archery Confederation.
In the women’s compound bow competition, Alejandra Usquiano had an outstanding performance from the qualifying phase, where she placed fourth with 584 points. In the elimination round, the Colombian advanced directly to the second phase and beat the Brazilian Mariana Chaves in a shoot-off. She later beat Larissa Aparecida in the quarterfinals and starred in a demanding semifinal against the Mexican Andrea Becerra, number one in the world ranking, whom she defeated again in a tiebreaker after equaling 148 points.
Already in the final, Usquiano confirmed her high level by winning 147-144 against the also Mexican Dafne Quintero, thus securing the international title. The Colombian delegation in the compound modality also had the participation of Sebastián Arenas, while in recurve the Paris 2024 Olympians Jorge Enríquez and Santiago Arcila competed, in addition to the youth Andrés Hernández.

Precisely in the U21 recurve bow, Andrés Hernández was the absolute protagonist by leading the qualification with 574 points. In the elimination bracket he advanced with authority, beating Brazilian Leonardo Da Silva in the quarterfinals and local Carlos Carvalho in the semifinals. In the dispute for gold, Hernández defeated Alex Nakahama 6–2 to win the championship. In this modality, Santiago Arcila finished in fourth position after losing in the duel for bronze against the Brazilian Marcus D’Almeida.
