Cangrejeros regain leadership with Thompson’s jewel
Daryl Thompson pitched eight solid innings and the Santurce Cangrejeros defeated the Carolina Giants 6-3 this Saturday, to regain first place in the Roberto Clemente Professional Baseball League.
Thompson allowed one run and five hits, struck out six and improved his record to 2-2. The only score he allowed was a solo home run by Gabriel Cancel in the first inning. Santurce responded with small play in the third and fourth innings to take control of the game, and extended the lead with an RBI single by Jeremy Arocho in the eighth. Arocho finished with three RBIs and was the offensive figure of the game. With the win, the Cangrejeros improved their record to 22-13.
In San Juan, the Senators defended their home by defeating the Leones de Ponce 6-2. The locals took a definitive lead with two runs in the fourth inning and added a couple more in the seventh inning. Víctor Torres went 1 for 3 with two RBIs, while Delvin Pérez went 1 for 3 with two RBIs to lead the offense.
In Mayagüez, a sacrifice fly by Darell Hernáiz in the ninth inning gave the Indios de Mayagüez a 6-5 victory over the Criollos de Caguas.
Cardinals ensure direct pass with beating of Sharks
The Lara Cardinals deployed an 18-hit offensive and secured their direct qualification to the postseason of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League, by defeating the Tiburones de La Guaira 13-4.
Yohendrick Pinango went 4 for 5 with a home run and three RBIs, Yonny Hernández went 3 for 5 with three RBIs and Ali Sánchez went 1 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs, to lead the explosive attack of the winners.
In Caracas, Orlando Arcia went 2 for 4 with a double, a home run and three runs batted in, while Víctor Bericoto went 2 for 4 with two RBIs, in the 7-3 victory of the Leones del Caracas over the Navegantes del Magallanes, a result that avoided the mathematical elimination of the capital team.

In Maracaibo, Teobaldo Piña hit a three-run home run and José Martínez went 2 for 5 with two RBIs to lead the Tigres de Aragua to a 9-2 victory over the Águilas del Zulia.
Jaguars devour Yaquis with Jandron’s jewel
Starter Tyler Jandron threw a gem of a pitch this Sunday and the Jaguares de Nayarit blanked the Yaquis de Ciudad Obregón 5-0, in the second round of the Mexican Pacific League.
Jandron worked seven scoreless innings, allowed just five hits and took the victory. On offense, Ricardo Valenzuela stood out, going 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.
In Jalisco, Alejandro Osuna went 3-for-3 with a triple, two runs scored and two RBIs, while Mateo Gil broke the tie with a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning, to give the Charros de Jalisco a 6-5 victory over the Tucson Baseball Team.
In Hermosillo, Estamy Ureña hit a two-run home run and Miles Simington went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs, in the Venados de Mazatlán’s 7-6 victory over the Naranjeros de Hermosillo.
In Los Mochis, César Vargas allowed only two hits and one run in six innings, and Estevan Florial hit a solo home run, to stand out in the balanced offense of the Águilas de Mexicali, who beat the Cañeros de Los Mochis 7-2.
