Chuc An: Vietnam’s Golf Pioneer | Historic Women’s Golf Step

After three rounds at Siam Country Club Rolling Hills, the women’s golf event of the 33rd Southeast Asian Games offers a special opportunity for Le Chuc An, Vietnam’s number one golfer, in her quest for a historic medal for women’s golf in her country.

In the third round, Le Chuc An played with regularity, completing the 18 holes in 75 strokes and thus maintaining her third place in the women’s individual ranking. The gap between Chuc An and her pursuers is currently only one stroke, while the difference with the first two is 6 and 8 strokes respectively.

Despite the difficulties encountered during the last round, maintaining his place in the group of medal contenders testifies to the character and obvious progress of this golfer born in 2008.

If she maintains her level of play and concentration in the final round, Le Chuc An could well make history by becoming the first Vietnamese golfer to win a medal at the Southeast Asian Games. This would not only be a personal achievement, but also the start of a new era for Vietnamese women’s golf on the regional scene.

In the remaining events, the Vietnamese golf team maintained its place among the best. Golfer Nguyen Anh Minh notably achieved a remarkable performance, finishing the third round with 67 strokes (-5), without any bogey, which allows him to climb to tied second place in the men’s individual ranking with a total score of -8 after 54 holes.

This result largely contributed to the Vietnamese men’s golf team maintaining third place in the team event, thus preserving their medal hopes.

The other members of the men’s team also performed well: Nguyen Tuan Anh scored 72 points, Nguyen Trong Hoang 73 and Ho Anh Huy 76. On the women’s side, Le Nguyen Minh Anh and Nguyen Viet Gia Han finished the competition with 81 and 86 points respectively, gaining valuable international experience.

With just 18 holes left to play, Vietnamese golf has a chance to achieve its medal goal, with Le Chuc An at the center of attention, carrying hopes of making Vietnamese women’s golf history at the Southeast Asian Games.
