Latvian hockey player Kristiāns Rubīns revealed in a conversation with “LSM.lv” that he could return to the lineup in mid-January.

It should be recalled that the 27-year-old defender, who represents the Czech Extra League club Škoda Pilsen, suffered a hand injury shortly before the start of this season. Predictions indicated Rubin would have to miss at least four months, which would allow him to return to action just before the Milan Olympics in February.

However, the situation turned out to be better than expected – as Rubīns himself said, after performing many different procedures, the recovery has proceeded faster than expected. It is expected that he will most likely be back on the field in January. “My [atgriešanās] the goal was January 1, but I understand everything… January 15, when you have to play 100 percent,” said Rubīns.

Rubīns, one of the leading defenders of the Latvian national team, has represented the national team in five world championships and two qualification tournaments for the Olympic Games.
