After offering a good image on Wednesday against Athletic (3-0) after three draws in a row, Real Madrid stumbled again, a 2-0 defeat at home against Celta this Sunday that leaves them four points behind leaders Barcelona.
A double by Swede Williot Swedberg (54, 90+3) gave the victory to the Galician team against the whites who were left with two fewer players due to the expulsions of Fran García (64′) and Álvaro Carreras (90+2′).
Before, the Madrid squad had suffered the first blow with the injury of Brazilian Eder Militao in the 20th minutejoining the team’s packed infirmary.
White coach Xabi Alonso must now redirect the situation before his players face Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the Champions Leaguealso on Wednesday at the Bernabéu.
“We are all angry, it was not the game we wanted; Militao’s injury has hurt us, it has been difficult for us emotionally to recover and, then, we have been adjusting things… There are only three points, there is a lot of league left”declared Xabi in the first response to his press conference.
Asked if he feels strong, the white coach pointed out that the squad is united: “We know that this is football and knowing how to reverse the situation; a bad game at home can be had even if it is not desired.”
