In The Television Window, Mariola Cubells brought together two actors who are experiencing very different but equally intense moments in their careers: David Lorente, a veteran of the stage and now an essential face in successful series, and Carla Quílez, the young actress who, at just 17 years old, is already accumulating awards and trend-setting roles.
Both participate in Her daughterthe series that has revolutionized Spanish fiction with its plot focused on badminton and adolescent tensions. Carla confessed that she had never picked up a racket before filming: “I got so into the role that in the end I wanted to beat the professional coach,” she said, laughing. Although he has not continued playing due to lack of time, he assures that the sport fascinated him: “I liked badminton a lot, I would have loved to continue.”
Carla, who won the Silver Shell when she was only 14 years old for The maternaltalked about how acting came into her life by surprise: “I uploaded dancing videos on Instagram during the pandemic. A casting director saw me and offered me a role. I had never done theater.” Now, with coming of age just around the corner, he plans to continue in the profession: “The passion is there, but it also depends on what comes. For now, I want to continue.” That award marked a before and after in his life. “I found out while in Barcelona, after taking a math exam. I went from an incredible depression to taking a plane to pick up the Silver Shell,” he recalled with a laugh.
David, for his part, recalled his beginnings: “I did amateur theater from the age of 10 with my mother in Getafe. I studied Law, but I had one subject left and at that time I joined a theater company. That’s where it all started.” Today he is one of the most versatile actors, capable of going from comedy to I don’t like drivingra the historical tension in Anatomy of a momentwhere he plays Tejero in the recreation of 23F: “We repeat more than 70 times the ‘Quiet everyone!’ to achieve the perfect scene. The first 30 times my hair stood on end,” he said.
Both agreed to highlight the experience of working alongside Javier Cámara, protagonist of Her daughter. Carla defined him as “close, a great friend before a partner. He gave me a lot of strength during filming.” About his first meeting at the casting, he recalled with humor: “Obviously it’s imposing, but I thought: I’m already here, whatever has to happen happens.”
