New England Patriots’ key wide receiver Stefon Diggs (32) was indicted on a felony charge, shocking National Football League (NFL) fans.
British media ‘BBC’ reported on the 31st (Korean time), “Dix is being charged with strangulation and assault, which are subject to aggravated punishment, in relation to an incident that occurred on the 2nd.”
The incident came to light after a woman who worked as Dix’s personal chef filed a complaint against him. The local court is scheduled to proceed with the process of acknowledging the indictment against Dix at the end of January next year.
Dix is completely denying the charges. Dix’s lawyer, David Maier, emphasized in a statement to the BBC, “We categorically reject the allegations raised. These are unsubstantiated and one-sided claims.”
In particular, Attorney Meyer explained that this complaint was “the result of a financial dispute between the employee and the employer that was not resolved amicably,” implying that it was a retaliatory complaint due to a financial conflict.

The New England team also released an official statement and defended Diggs. “We confirm that Stefon categorically denies the allegations, and the team supports him,” the Patriots said in a statement.
He added, “We will work closely with the authorities and the league office to collect information,” and added, “As legal proceedings are currently in progress, we will refrain from making further comments.”
This season, Diggs is a key resource that led the Patriots’ resurgence by ranking first in the team’s offensive index, recording 82 receptions and 4 touchdowns in 16 games. Thanks to Diggs’ performance, the Patriots currently have 13 wins and 3 losses and have confirmed winning the American Football Conference Eastern Division.
Diggs, who signed a huge three-year contract worth $69 million (approximately 100 billion won) with New England last March, has recently been in the spotlight after having a son with his girlfriend, rapper Cardi B.
‘BBC’ is contacting local police authorities to determine the specific circumstances. Dix is scheduled to appear in court in January to plead guilty or not guilty.
