During the week of the Immaculate Conception, the Carabinieri Company of Sassuolo intensified its prevention action throughout the district, preparing an extraordinary control service aimed at combating home burglaries and, more generally, the crimes that most impact the safety of citizens.
Extraordinary checks by the Carabinieri
SASSUOLO – The patrols of the dependent stations and of the Operational and Radiomobile Unit operated in the Municipalities of Sassuolo, Formigine, Maranello, Fiorano Modenese, Castelvetro and Vignola, with targeted checkpoints, interventions in sensitive areas, road checks and activities in places where young people gather.
In a state of intoxication
During traffic checks, the Carabinieri reported several drivers in a state of intoxication:
a 43-year-old man, of Georgian origin, resident in the district of Sassuolo, with a blood alcohol level above 1.8 g/l and vehicle seized for confiscation purposes;
a 50-year-old man of French origin, resident in the Modena area, tested positive with values close to 1 g/l, with simultaneous withdrawal of his driving licence;
a 55-year-old woman, resident in Maranello, with a rate higher than 1.2 g/l and the vehicle entrusted to her family;
a 21-year-old man, resident in Pavullo nel Frignano, positive for an alcohol test with a value of 1.23 g/l, detected following a road accident without injuries;
a 22-year-old man, resident in Sassuolo, arrested with a blood alcohol level above 1.3 g/l and his license revoked on the spot.
Baseball bat
Also as part of the roadside checks, a 36-year-old man of Moroccan origin, resident in the Reggio Emilia area, was reported in Sassuolo for unjustified possession of objects capable of offending, as he was found in possession of a baseball bat, two cutters, a multi-purpose tool and a glass-breaking hammer, all seized.
Seizure of narcotic substance
The commitment of the patrols was also aimed at combating the use of narcotic substances, with interventions near schools, public parks and meeting areas.
In Sassuolo, the following were reported for possession of narcotics for personal use:
a young 18-year-old resident in Fiorano, found inside a high school with a homemade cigarette containing hashish;
a 19-year-old resident of the district was found with cocaine, while a 20-year-old from Sassuolo was found with hashish, with the substance seized and the license withdrawn for one of the two subjects involved in the roadside check;
a 26-year-old of Moroccan origins, resident in Pavullo nel Frignano, caught walking in via San Carlo with gr. 0.3 of hashish and gr. 2.0 of cocaine.
In Maranello the Carabinieri checked two 16-year-olds, residents of Frignano, found with a gram of hashish each inside a public park, proceeding with the administrative reporting to the Prefecture and the seizure of the relevant substance.
In Vignola, during an evening service, a 33-year-old man of Tunisian origin without a fixed address in Italy was reported found in possession of approximately one gram of cocaine; a further check concerned a 45-year-old man, also of Tunisian origin and resident in Modena, found with four grams of hashish during a patrol in via Zenzano.
More controls
The overall activity has made it possible to strengthen the control of the areas most exposed to home burglaries, increase road safety by removing drunk drivers from circulation, and also intercepting drug users, including minors, in the main meeting places in the area.

The Carabinieri Company of Sassuolo will also continue in the coming weeks with extraordinary services aimed at preventing predatory crimes and ensuring widespread control of the most sensitive areas, to protect the safety of the community.
