Erick Green arrived in Cantù, had his first training session and will be officially presented to the press today, immediately after coach Nicola Brienza’s conference dedicated to the derby. Above all, the new American guard will wear the number 32 shirt in the eagerly awaited match against Olimpia Milano and will be able to start contributing to the Cantù cause. Green – he was with the Lebanese Sagesse – landed yesterday morning at 9.50 at Malpensa, on a direct flight from Beirut. He then underwent the ritual medical examinations, before a trip to the office to sign the final documents. A few hours of rest in his apartment and then he joined the Seveso team for training at 4pm.
The player, 34 years old, who recently spent in Naples last season, also seen in Italy with the Treviso and Siena shirts, will therefore be the big news on the Cantù roster for the derby tomorrow evening at 8pm – referees Grigioni from Rome, Borgo from Vicenza and Attard from Siracusa will be designated -, the advance of the twelfth day of the championship. Cantù comes from four consecutive defeats, Milan from two victories in the championship and, last night, played in the Euroleague against Fenerbahce.
Meanwhile, the “sold out” at the PalaFitLine in Desio is very, very close. In fact, a few dozen tickets remain available, only in the second ring. The guest sector is also almost full, the only one that can be purchased by residents in the metropolitan city of Milan.
Tickets for the second ring cost 23 euros, reduced tickets (reserved for under 14s and over 70s) 18 euros and are available online on Vivaticket. Today on-site sales, from 5pm to 7pm and, if there are still free seats, the PalaFitLine box office will also open, tomorrow from 6.30pm before the match. But it is really a very remote hypothesis, because the presale was very strong, despite the team’s results being slow in arriving. It’s the classic “derby effect”, let alone when it’s been missing for five years…
