Everyone is talking about it! The splendid acrobatic return of the Moroccan Ayoub El Kaabi, which definitively validated the victory of the Atlas Lions against the Comoros (2-0), Sunday during the opening of the African Football Cup of Nations, is undoubtedly the gesture at the start of the competition. The one that every supporter wants to achieve.
The best way to see this is to take a look at social networks where the “bicycle” video is imitated, reproduced and diverted. To the delight of Morocco supporters.
On one of them, we see Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, eldest son of King Mohammed VI, appearing alone in the central circle to give the fictitious kick-off of the match against the Comoros. The manager makes a “dip” and sends the ball into the air. The sequence is real… but thanks to judicious video editing it finally extends with the action of the goal where Ayoub El Kaabi receives the ball in a bell. The prince then becomes the decisive passer.
In another video we see a group of young adults on a grassless, dirt field, reproducing the action in its entirety. From the pass that leads to the goal until the celebration where the scorer makes a heart with his fingers like Ayoub El Kaabi.
Reproductions which could well encourage the 32-year-old striker, a bicycle specialist, to attempt a new spectacular gesture during Morocco’s next match against Mali on Friday.
