The Pharaohs are fixed. Coach Hossam Hassan unveiled this Thursday the list of 28 names who will try to bring Egypt its eighth crown on January 18. The most successful nation in the history of the CAN, it will fly to Morocco in the wake of its superstar Mohamed Salah, in the middle of a clash with his club Liverpool after a failed start to the season.
Still looking for his first continental coronation despite two finals (2017, 2021), the 33-year-old striker will be accompanied in his quest by Omar Marmoush, the center forward of Manchester City, considered his successor at the forefront of the Egyptian attack.
The list of Egypt

Only one Ligue 1 player is part of the group: Mostafa Mohamed, the FC Nantes striker, scorer of 2 goals in 14 matches since the start of the season. Part of the selection, OGC Nice defender Mohamed Abdelmonem has not returned to competition since rupturing the cruciate ligaments in his right knee against PSG on April 26 and has not been called up.
Note that the majority of the players chosen play in the Egyptian championship and in particular at Al Ahly, the local juggernaut, which places eight of its elements on the list.
Egypt will launch its CAN on Monday December 22 against Zimbabwe (9 p.m.). Placed in Group B, the African giant will also challenge South Africa and Angola.
