Egypt and more particularly Mohamed Salah were impatiently awaiting it: a new opportunity to shine at the African Cup of Nations. At the end of a 2023 edition in which they were eclipsed in the round of 16, the Pharaohs will seek to reaffirm their status as bosses of the continent. It has now been fifteen years since the most successful nation in history last won a CAN.
Hossam Hassan’s players will have the chance to start their tournament gradually. On the first day of the group stage, they will face Zimbabwe. The meeting is scheduled for this Monday, December 22 at 9 p.m. at the Adrar stadium in Agadir.
The temperature will rise in the next match. The Pharaohs will meet the bronze medalist of the last edition, South Africa. The two teams will battle it out on Friday December 26 at 4 p.m. in Agadir. Egypt will spend the entirety in this western Moroccan city as they meet Angola there to conclude the first round on Monday, December 29 at 5 p.m.
