Eduardo Camavinga returned to his origins this Christmas, with a trip to Angola, where he spent his childhood. The Real Madrid player, currently a naturalized French citizen, was born in Miconge, Angola, where his parents, Celestino and Sofia, immigrated to escape the war in the Republic of Congo. In 2003, the family – Eduardo and three other brothers – emigrated to France and settled in Lille.

Taking advantage of the Christmas holidays in Spain, the Real Madrid midfielder has now returned to the country in the company of his parents and friends and followed an ongoing project: the construction of a football school.
Camavinga was received at the highest level by several official entities and spoke about the creation of the school during a visit to the Ministry of Youth and Sports: «It’s a way of giving back, in a way, everything this country gave me.»
The player shared his visit through social media, with images captured by the photographer who usually accompanies him, Jordan Bajo. In one of the photographs, Camavinga poses with the Angolan flag and a portrait of the president, João Lourenço. «We live with immense privilege, without sometimes realizing it. Enjoy yours during these end of year festivities. Merry Christmas,” the footballer wrote in the caption of the image.
The French international also visited an orphanage, where he gave the boys Real Madrid shirts.
