Bowles’ Outburst: Falcons Loss Triggers Heated Reaction

After the more than avoidable defeat against the Atlanta Falcons, the otherwise level-headed Todd Bowles is angry. And the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers lets everyone feel that.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers missed a huge opportunity.

Against the Atlanta Falcons it was a stupid, avoidable and painful 28:29 defeat in the NFL. Reason enough for head coach Todd Bowles to verbally hit the table.

And not internally in the dressing room, but in front of the reporters at the podium.

Bowles angry: “That’s inexcusable”

When asked what he had said to the team in the dressing room, the normally calm coach gave in to an angry speech. “This is inexcusable. This shit has to fucking hurt. This has to fucking mean something to you.”

Bowles used the F-word several times in his speech – here somewhat defused with “damn”: “It’s more than your damn job, it’s your damn livelihood. You can’t sugarcoat this shit anymore. It was inexcusable. That’s what they tell them in the locker room. Look in the damn mirror.”

The Bucs led by two scores before the Falcons initiated the comeback. Baker Mayfield helped with an interception in the fourth quarter.

“You can say what you want, but it always comes back to me in the end. That’s my fault. You can’t cause a turnover. That will haunt me for a long time,” the quarterback said after the game.

With the loss, the Carolina Panthers have now moved past the Bucs and could move to 8-6 on Sunday, while the Bucs are at 7-7. There will be a direct duel in week 16.
