Two shocks, two scenarios, the same lesson: the top of the table is tightening
The 10th day of Betclic ÉLITE offered two particularly popular matches this Sunday, December 7: JL Bourg welcomed Nanterre, co-leader before the weekend, while Paris returned to the Adidas Arena to host Saint-Quentin. Two meetings with different dynamics, but the same challenge: to maintain the rhythm imposed in an extremely dense first part of the season.
JL Bourg stops Nanterre after a tense finale
At Ékinox, JL Bourg scored a valuable success against Nanterre (86-83), putting an end to the Ile-de-France region’s series of five victories in all competitions.
Buoyed by a very high level third quarter (27-13), the Bressans made the difference before resisting an Ile-de-France comeback led by an inspired Nick Johnson.
Dossou-Yovo impresses, McGhee confirms
On the Nanterre side, Mathis Dossou-Yovo delivered a complete performance: 22 points, 11 rebounds, 3 stealswith constant activity in the racket.
Darius McGhee was also decisive in the Burgian high point (19 points, 5 passes).
But the end of the match almost called everything into question: a foul by Dossou-Yovo on Kevin Kokila 11 seconds from the siren could have given Nanterre possession of the victory. The Burgian captain did not tremble on the line, sealing an important victory to revive the JL before a busy schedule.
Paris reacts and wins largely against Saint-Quentin
At the Adidas Arena, Paris Basketball needed to revive after two defeats in four days in Monaco. Mission accomplished with a convincing victory against Saint-Quentin (99-69).
A flamboyant first quarter, then the ramp-up
Paris started strong with 36 points scored in the first quarterbefore seeing the SQBB gradually return.
More close than the final gap suggests, the match was for a long time animated by Nick Johnson (14 points, 5 assists) on the Picardy side.
The change occurred after returning from the locker room: Yakuba Ouattara (14 points, 3 rebounds) brought back the rhythm, while Nadir Hifi gained momentum (16 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists). A lightning 31-0 at the start of the last quarter definitively extinguished Axon’s hopes.
With five players with more than ten points, Paris found a successful team to achieve a solid success at home.
LDLC ASVEL alone in the lead after this double result
The defeat of Nanterre at Bourg and the victory of Villeurbanne the day before in Strasbourg now place LDLC ASVEL sole leader of the championship (8v–2d).
Behind, Bourg is recovering, Paris is relaunching and Saint-Quentin continues to learn in the face of the current high level of Betclic ELITE.
