Bollnäs GIF continues as organizer of the Swedish Bandy Cup. The Swedish Bandy Federation has decided to award Bollnäs the event for another two years – a decision that comes after several associations around the country showed interest in hosting the final weekend.
– We are both happy and proud to have received continued trust to organize the Swedish Cup. It is already a strong arrangement today, but together with the Swedish Bandy Federation we see clear potential to gear up and develop it further, says Sofia Nordell, club manager in Bollnäs GIF.
Bollnäs has organized the Swedish Cup for the past two years, and the association now sees a clear value in building on the work that has already been established. Through continuity and a long-term collaboration, better conditions are created to develop the event further, both as a season opener, audience meeting and rallying point for Swedish bandy.
More than just matches
The focus is on arrangement quality, audience experience and strengthening the competition’s role in bandy’s annual cycle.
– The Swedish Cup has grown steadily since its inception in 2005, both in terms of interest and crowd pressure. With a longer perspective, we can continue to develop the whole – the experience on site, the content around the matches and the value for both the audience and partners. Our long-term ambition is for the Swedish Cup to be arranged in different locations around the country, but we know from experience that the development of a national event requires continuity over time. For this period, the assessment is therefore that the Swedish Cup is best strengthened by building on the work that has already been established, says Daniel Andersson, general secretary of the Swedish Bandy Federation.
The fact that several actors simultaneously showed interest in the arrangement marks a clear break in the trend. The Swedish Cup has strengthened its position and is seen today as an increasingly important part of the Swedish bandy season, both sportingly and publicly.
At the same time, the Swedish Bandy Federation extends a big thank you to all associations that have registered an interest.
– The commitment shows that the Swedish Cup is on the right track and that there is a strong will in bandy Sweden to take responsibility for and develop our joint events, concludes Daniel Andersson.
