Pop star Beyoncé became the fifth musician to be named to Forbes’ list of world billionaires.
According to BBC and Forbes on the 29th (local time), Beyonce joined the ‘elite’ group of musicians with a net worth of more than $1 billion (about 1.4345 trillion won), making her the fifth person to do so, following Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Bruce Springsteen, and her husband Jay-Z. Earlier this month, Forbes predicted that Beyoncé’s assets were estimated at $800 million (approximately 1.1476 trillion won) and that she would soon rise to the ranks of billionaires.
Beyoncé has emerged as one of the world’s biggest pop icons along with Swift, earning approximately $600 million (approximately KRW 860.7 billion) from her 2023 world tour. Beyoncé produced and distributed the concert performance, which was her first solo tour in seven years, as a film, and as a result, she received her share of nearly half of the $44 million (approximately KRW 63.1 billion) worldwide box office revenue.
The ‘Cowboy Carter’ tour, in which members of the girl group Destiny’s Child, of which Beyonce was a member, and her husband Jay-Z were guests, was estimated to have earned more than $400 million (approximately KRW 573.8 billion) from ticket sales alone and over $50 million (approximately KRW 71.7 billion) from concert merchandise sales. Forbes reported that Beyoncé earned tens of millions of additional dollars through special performances at halftime shows at NFL games and Levi’s advertisements.
