Beveren CPL Success: League Leader Benefits

SK Beveren has been crowned the big winner of the midweek matchday in the Challenger Pro League. While pursuers KV Kortrijk and Beerschot VA already lost points on Tuesday, the Waaslanders did take the full spoils and remain undefeated this season. Jong Genk was defeated 1-2.

During the penultimate match day of 2025, some surprising results were already recorded on Tuesday. Beerschot, number three in the rankings, lost 1-2 to Jong Gent. Kortrijk cut its teeth again on the Lierse field. The number two did not get further than a 0-0 draw.

A day later it was up to the leader to take full advantage of those slippers. But coach Reedijk’s team initially had a difficult time visiting Jong Genk. The Limburgers, who play their home matches in the ASV Geel stadium, started eagerly and immediately created the first goal chances.

Beveren remains undefeated

Genk’s promises were also able to capitalize on that good start. After less than fifteen minutes of play, Bibout already made it 1-0. The Cameroonian striker has already scored 10 goals in 17 CPL matches. However, halfway through the first half, Bibout missed the opportunity to make it 2-0. And the Limburgers paid a dear price for that.

Not much later, Beveren was able to climb alongside via Abrahams. In the second half, Mertens made it 1-2 again, and he also has 10 competition goals. Then it remained exciting, especially since the visitors aimed the decisive goal at the post. But in the end it remained at 1-2.

New target Club Nxt

This narrow victory puts Beveren, which has not yet lost a single competition match, ahead by six points. Next weekend they will close the calendar year with the top match against Beerschot. Lower down in the rankings, RSCA Futures won 2-0 against Francs Borains. The ailing RWDM defeated Club Nxt 0-1. Club Brugge’s promises remain disconsolately last with barely 7 out of 51.
