The regular competition is gradually entering its final phase and with ten match days to go, a few spots already seem to have been secured. For the Champions’ Play-Offs, among other things, several teams already seem certain of their place. Also for Marc Degryse, who has enormous praise for one team: STVV
According to Degryse, four clubs seem to have already almost secured their ticket for Play-Off 1: Union SG, Club Brugge, RSC Anderlecht and STVV. The last name in particular raises eyebrows. Sint-Truiden is playing above expectations this season and is impressing with its play. “Sint-Truiden plays the best football in the Belgian league. I love watching this STVV. Technology, combinations and adult football,” Degryse says in The Latest News.
Degryse largely attributes these performances to trainer Wouter Vrancken. The coach seems completely reborn after some difficult years and is once again clearly making his mark. According to the analyst, this does not go unnoticed. “You can see the stamp of Wouter Vrancken. He has had some difficult years, but is now coming into his own. As far as I am concerned, he is again among the big boys in the Belgian coaching world.”
However, the winter break comes at the right time for many trainers. Degryse expects that a lot can shift in the rankings after the break, towards the Play-Offs. “All coaches, and especially those who have recently changed clubs, now have some breathing space. They can further focus during this winter break and on the internships. Afterwards, they can gradually get the maximum return from their team towards the Play-Offs. I wonder how many strange twists and turns we will get…”, he concludes.
