Bernardo Silva to Benfica: Mendes Addresses Transfer Rumors

After the Globe Soccer Awards, Jorge Mendes discussed Bernardo Silva’s possible return to Benfica at the end of the season, when the athlete ends his contract with Manchester City, but he did not guarantee this and even left doubts that this could happen in the short term.

«Return to Benfica? You have to ask him that, I think it’s still early, it’s still early”, said the best agent in the world in 2025 to the Portuguese press in Dubai, including BALLhighlighting the quality of Portuguese players and making a comparison to João Félix’s situation at Atlético Madrid.

«There is the example of Bernardo Silva, there are many players who left [do Benfica] and they no longer remember, but at the time they didn’t bet on them. Then the context was ideal: he went to Monaco, then he went to a team that… Barcelona or Man. City, he went to City and at the moment he is one of those who could win the Ballon d’Or and for many he is the best in his position. He’s an ace, we have so many examples”, he said, mentioning other names.

Jorge Mendes praised Gonçalo Ramos, at a time when his PSG compatriots, Vitinha, João Neves and Nuno Mendes, have been receiving credit for a great season. “He has the conditions to be the best striker in the world. In terms of productivity, for the minutes he played and the goals he scored, he is the best striker in Europe and can play for any team in the world”, he guaranteed.

The Portuguese agent also stated that Bruno Fernandes is the best player in his position and has not forgotten Portuguese football: «Pedro Gonçalves and Trincão are players who will gain more and more prominence in Portuguese football and in the National Team, as well as Rodrigo Mora, who was already in the National Team and has a long and happy road ahead of him, a bright future.»
