This Monday was a very important day for Belgian football. Several club leaders fear that ultimately, without a viable financial solution, the situation will become very complicated.
This Monday, the Pro League and DAZN clubs appeared before CEPANI, the arbitration and mediation court, in order to find a solution to the crisis affecting Belgian football. Pending a solution, broadcasting is assured, but television rights payments continue to pose a problem.
One thing is certain: if DAZN does not pay the amounts initially owed to Pro League clubs, some will find themselves in a very complicated situation, in the short term. Many clubs, particularly in the Challenger Pro League, rely on these payments.
Football panic in Belgium?
“In the current circumstances, the transfer market will become more and more important,” several managers report in The Latest News. Clubs will have to sell much more than expected this winter, and the training of young people will be crucial.
“Our plan is to focus even more on young players and sell them even more quickly. This is the best way to keep our heads above water,” declares the manager of an unspecified club known for its training.
