BeIN Sports: Emotional Message for Christophe Glezies’ Mother | Vendée Fontenay-PSG

The world of football is still in support of Christophe Gleizes. During PSG’s big victory against Vendée Fontenay on Saturday in the round of 32 of the Coupe de France, BeIN Sports had a thought for the French journalist, sentenced on appeal to seven years in prison in Algeria for “apology of terrorism”.

In the 7th minute of the match, the television channel interrupted the comments of Christophe Josse and Daniel Bravo to give way to a message of hope from Sylvie Godard, the mother of Christophe Gleizes.

“Hello, my name is Sylvie, I am the mother of Christophe Gleizes. The sports journalist who was sentenced to seven years in prison in Algeria. Christophe, I know that you have BeIN Sports in your cell and that you watch all the football matches. I want you to know that we are doing everything we can to get you out of here. You are not alone, we are with you and we love you,” she proclaimed.

A request for mercy to Abdelmadjid Tebboune

According to a letter seen by AFP on Monday, the sports journalist’s mother sent a request for pardon to Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune a few days ago. “I respectfully ask that you please consider pardoning Christophe, so that he can regain his freedom and his family. (…) The confirmation of the sentence to seven years in prison was for Christophe, as for me and my family, an immense shock,” expressed Sylvie Godard’s letter.

Christophe Gleizes appealed to the Supreme Court to request a new trial as indicated by his French lawyer, Me Emmanuel Daoud, and his Algerian lawyer Me Amirouche Bakouri. Enough to give hope to the journalist.
