Bayern Munich has recorded its fifth win in six matches in the Champions League. The team of coach Vincent Kompany won with difficulty at home against Sporting CP 3-1 and therefore remains firmly in second place.

Bayern had the upper hand before halftime, but an early goal by 17-year-old Lennart Karl was disallowed. At the other end, Manuel Neuer prevented Jonathan Tah’s own goal with a nice save.

After the break, Sporting made it 0-1 through Joshua Kimmich thanks to an own goal. Bayern then went all out on attack and repaired the damage with three goals within twelve minutes.

Serge Gnabry made it 1-1 with a tap-in, Karl then scored the 2-1 and Tah made Bayern’s third.

Olympiakos wint

The Greek Olympiacos braved temperatures of minus twenty degrees around the match with Kairat Almaty, but in practice it was not too bad. The match was played in an indoor stadium in the Kazakh capital Astana.

Yet it did not go easy for Olympiacos. Only in the 73rd minute did Gelson Martins – also accurate against PSV – find the net. That 0-1 immediately turned out to be the winning goal.
