Bradley Danger, former Ruthenian player, received a projectile thrown by a spectator during the Bastia-Red Star match on Friday December 5.
Affairs in Bastia are not improving. Last in Ligue 2 with only 8 points halfway through, the Corsican club was sanctioned with a lost match against Red Star, Monday December 22, by the LFP disciplinary committee. This decision follows the incidents that occurred at the Furiani stadium, Friday December 5: the match was interrupted in the 57th minute, when the score was 0-0, when Bradley Danger, defender from the Paris region and former Raf, was hit in the back and in one arm by a smoke bomb thrown from the stands.
In addition to the loss of this match, Sporting was sanctioned with a suspended one-point withdrawal as well as a closure of the Petrignani stand for the next four home matches.
“A huge stupidity”
This sporting sanction comes after a first legal decision in this case. Arrested, the supporter guilty of throwing the smoke bomb was tried in immediate appearance on Monday, December 15. After recognizing “a huge stupidity”he received a six-month suspended prison sentence as well as a five-year stadium ban. He must pay a symbolic euro to the LFP and Red Star. The Sporting Club de Bastia has also filed a civil suit and a hearing will take place in April to determine the possible sum to be paid to the Corsican club.
