Basketball: In Ségré, grassroots investment to train the champions of tomorrow
“Sport starts at the grassroots, in the villages and neighborhoods,” says Mr. Babacar Ndiaye. By launching the construction of a modern basketball court in Ségré, the president of the Senegalese Basketball Federation is translating this conviction into action, with the ambition of supporting young people and building the champions of tomorrow.
From now on, the village of Ségré will take an important step in the development of its sports infrastructure. Through this initiative, Mr. Babacar Ndiaye wanted to provide his native village with a sports infrastructure intended for local youth. This basketball court aims to offer young people a framework adapted to the practice of sport, training and talent detection, while promoting the learning of the values of discipline, perseverance and social cohesion.
The president of the FSBB recalled that “the development of sport begins in the villages and neighborhoods, where vocations are born and future champions are built.”
For the populations of Ségré, this project represents significant progress. The young beneficiaries welcomed a gesture that brings hope and opportunities, in a locality where sports infrastructure remains limited.
This achievement is part of the policy of promotion and development of basketball advocated by Me Babacar Ndiaye since his accession to the head of the federation. Known for his commitment to local sport, he multiplies actions aimed at strengthening the practice of basketball on a national scale.
The construction of this basketball court will help to boost the sporting and social life of the village of Ségré. It should also serve as a framework for the organization of sporting and community activities, thus strengthening the role of sport as a vector of cohesion and inclusion.
