On Wednesday, Latvian forward Rūdolfs Balcers played his first game after two months of injury treatment and assisted a goal in the Swiss Hockey League (NL) game. “Lions” of Zurich, represented by a Latvian, beat “Lugano” 5:3 at home.
Balcers helped make it 4-3 three minutes before the end of regular time, thus assisting the winning goal. In this game, he was on the ice for 15 minutes and 55 seconds and scored four times.
After his return to the game, Balcers told reporters that he felt very good on the field, but still needs some time to regain the right rhythm and good chemistry with his teammates on the ice.

“My feelings improved a lot during the game, so I think that I will be ready to play at the highest level of my ability very soon,” Balcers looked hopefully into the near future.
In 15 games this season, Balcer has scored seven goals and provided five assists.
In another match, “Ajoie” represented by Emīlas Veckaktiņš lost 2:4 away to “Fribourg-Gotteron”, while “Kloten” without Denis Smirnov lost 4:5 away to “Zug”.
Among the teams represented by Latvians, “Lions” is the highest in the tournament table – in sixth place.
Last season, the Zurich Lions team became the NL champion, beating the Lausanne team 4-1 in the final series.
