On Wednesday, Latvian forward Rūdolfs Balcers played his first game after two months of injury treatment and assisted a goal in the Swiss Hockey League (NL) game.
“Lions” of Zurich, represented by a Latvian, beat “Lugano” 5:3 (2:1, 0:1, 3:1) at home.
Balcers helped make it 4-3 three minutes before the end of regular time, thus assisting the winning goal. In this game, he was on the ice for 15 minutes and 55 seconds and scored four times.
Balcers has scored seven goals and provided five assists in 15 games this season.
In another match, “Ajoie” represented by Emīlas Veckaktiņas lost to “Fribourg-Gotteron” 2:4 (0:2, 1:2, 1:0) away, while “Kloten” without Denis Smirnov lost 4:5 (1:1, 2:1, 1:3) to “Zug”.
Among the teams represented by Latvians, “Lions” is the highest in the tournament table – in sixth place.
Last season, the Zurich “Lions” team became the NL champion, beating the “Lausanne” team 4-1 in the final series.
