Badminton Low Cup 2025: Dates & Details

BADMINTON LOW CUP 2025 STARTS IN EL CAR TIJUANA

The competition brings together 80 athletes from six states of the country, including Para Badminton competitors, as part of the process towards the National Olympiad.

Tijuana, Baja California, December 18, 2025.– With the participation of 80 athletes from Baja California and six states of the Republic, the Baja Badminton Cup 2025 began this Wednesday in the multipurpose gym of the High Performance Center (CAR) of Tijuana, a competition that is part of the preparation process towards the 2026 National Olympics.

The event is organized by the State Badminton Association, in coordination with the Institute of Sports and Physical Culture of Baja California (INDEBC), and aims to strengthen the competitive level of the athletes of the 29th State through high-level competitions and specialized concentrations.

“The importance of this type of events lies in the fact that they allow us to raise our competitive level, since they function as training sessions that we normally do not have within our reach. In addition, they reflect the work done in concentration and provide the players with an environment very similar to that of an official competition,” said Jonathan Morales, president of the State Badminton Association.

Representatives from Yucatán, Mexico City, State of Mexico, Quintana Roo, Chihuahua and Aguascalientes attended the 2025 Baja Badminton Cup, in addition to the host team from Baja California, consolidating the competition as one of the most relevant preparation tournaments on the national calendar.

Morales also highlighted the participation of Para Badminton athletes from Mexico City, who participated in both the concentration and the competition. “This activity is very significant, since the para athletes found a space for inclusion here from the first day, something that does not always happen in their places of origin,” he noted.

At the start of the competition, the triumphs of National Olympic medalists stood out, such as Naomi Marmolejo, who beat Cindy Naranjo in the Under 19 category, as well as the victory of Edgar Urías over Leonardo Camacho in the Under 17 category.

Finally, Morales stressed that both the concentration and the Baja Cup will be decisive in raising the competitive level of Baja California badminton players, with the goal of improving the results obtained in the last National Olympics, where the state delegation won two bronze medals.
