Badminton Denmark: Talent Development Boosted | Badminton.dk

In Badminton Denmark’s elite strategy 2025-2028, one of the strategic areas of action is to increase the training offer at NETC in Brøndby for selected talents and young seniors. The requirements to develop into a world-class player are constantly increasing, and Badminton Denmark’s assessment is that there is a need for additional training offers for these young players if they are to have optimal development opportunities – in the same way that players on Funen and in Jutland have the opportunity for several weekly federation training sessions.

In continuation of the fact that it has been possible to get more pitches at NETC – as well as an increased subsidy from Team Denmark – it has become possible to establish two extra morning training sessions at NETC for this group of players from next season. In this connection, Badminton Denmark has employed Per-Henrik Croona in a position as coach and talent development consultant. Together with transition coach Jonas Lyduch, “PH” will be responsible for the new training of the young talents, and at the same time he will solve operational and development tasks in general talent development. In addition to badminton training, the new initiative will also provide the opportunity for additional help in relation to physical training, training and tournament planning and possibly sports psychology for the players in question.

“I am incredibly happy that we can now offer an even better training offer for the most talented young players east of the Great Belt. I am sure that it will be able to further support their sporting development and be a good supplement to the good club training they already receive. I am also very happy that a capacity like “PH” has agreed to take the job as coach and talent development consultant. He has both extensive experience as a coach at the highest level (Per-Henrik Croona was a coach at NETC from 2011 to 2016, ed.), and with working strategically and operationally with talent development (Per-Henrik Croona was sports manager in the Swedish Badminton Association from 2021 to 2025, ed.). In addition to his great experience and knowledge, he has a huge commitment, and he will undoubtedly become a huge asset for Danish badminton and contribute to further strengthening our talent development”, says Elite and Sports Manager Jens Meibom.

Per-Henrik Croona will be employed in a part-time position of 75 percent, and he will start his work at Badminton Denmark on 1 June 2026.

“I look forward with anticipation to coming back to Danish badminton and to contributing to talent development in Denmark. I am very much looking forward to the collaboration with the players, but also with their talented local coaches out in the clubs. It is important that there is a connection between the local training and the training we can offer at NETC in Brøndby,” says Per-Henrik Croona. “In addition, I am also very much looking forward to the strategic part of talent development and to helping to further develop the talent development strategy in Denmark, so that there is a common thread in the work with the young players.”

Per-Henrik Croona will also become a coach at Badminton Denmark’s ETC East center in Brøndby, where he will replace center coach Frank Larsen.

“Considering the intensified cooperation with the players that we want to establish, it makes very good sense that “PH” also takes care of the training at ETC East, as most relevant players also train there. Unfortunately, this means that we have to say goodbye to Frank Larsen as coach at ETC East, but he understands the decision. Frank has been with ETC East since its inception seven years ago, and I would like to thank him very much for his great efforts at ETC East throughout all the years. Frank continues as U17 and U19 national coach, so fortunately we still benefit from his skills,” says Jens Meibom.
