The Haigerloch badminton ace Nadja-Christine Reihle (Spvgg Mössingen), who is still eligible to compete in the U19 despite her young age, took part again in the title fights in the O19 class. With convincing performances she achieved two strong third places.
Starke Auftritte
Reihle started with clear victories in all three disciplines and reached the quarter-finals in each. In the mixed doubles alongside Alexis Riebschläger (BC Offenburg) she met Marcus Bayer and Kirsten Rotmann (BSpfr. Neusatz/SSV Ettlingen) and won confidently with 21:16 and 21:14, which secured the semi-finals.
Lina Berger (BC Offenburg), who has Bundesliga experience, was waiting in the women’s singles. After winning the first set, however, Reihle’s lack of training became noticeable with a three-week flu-like infection. She lost 21:14, 12:21 and 12:21 and finished a respectable fifth place. In the women’s doubles, Reihle competed together with Melina Wild (SG Schorndorf). The opponents in the quarter-finals were the multiple world champions Claudia Vogelgsang (VfB Friedrichshafen) and Kuyilini Markandu (Aldingen).
Unbeeindruckt vom großen Namen
Unimpressed by the big name, Reihle/Wild won confidently with 21:13 and 21:15 and reached the semi-finals. All semi-finals and finals were played on professional pitch mats. There Reihle and her partners had to admit defeat in both the women’s doubles against Senja Dewes/Kerstin Wagner (BSV Eggenstein-Leopoldshafen/SG Schorndorf) and in the mixed doubles against Alan Erben/Lena Reder (SG Schorndorf/BC Offenburg).
Both times this meant a strong third place – a remarkable result for Reihle, who was the youngest player to reach the podium.
Die letzten Jugendturniere
The Haigerloch native has two more important tournaments coming up before Christmas: from Friday to Sunday she will be fighting at the German Championship for the U15-U19 age groups in Hoyerswerda, Saxony.
Then it’s off to the international stage: Reihle will compete in her last youth tournament at the top-class Yonex German Ruhr Internationals in Mülheim an der Ruhr. (swp)
