Atlético-MG established conditions to negotiate two players from the squad: left-back Guilherme Arana, the club’s idol, and striker Rony.
According to Itatiaia, Galo will prioritize sales in both cases, without loans or exchanges for other athletes.
Arana arouses interest from Fluminense, who would like to count on the 28-year-old player. But the full-back has a contract until the end of 2027, which forces Tricolor das Laranjeiras to study a loan (which Galo is not looking for) or a definitive purchase.
Rony, on the other hand, motivated searches for Santos and Bahia. Atlético gave a positive signal for the athlete and Alvinegro Praiano to talk – information anticipated by journalist Heverton Guimarães and confirmed by Itatiaia. Despite this, Rooster and Fish need to get along.
With Argentine coach Jorge Sampaoli, who will continue until 2026, Atlético will have a cast overhaul. The intention is to change some parts of the cast, and Rony, 30 years old, and Arana could be some of those names.
Idol spider
The 28-year-old full-back arrived at Galo in January 2020 to become an idol. With little time, Arana identified with the club and fans to mark his season.
There are 271 official games with the Atleticana shirt, with 23 goals, 37 assists and nine titles: Campeonato Brasileiro (2021), Copa do Brasil (2021), Supercopa do Brasil (2022) and Campeonato Mineiro (2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025).
In 2025, Arana made 49 appearances (43 starts) for Atlético, with two goals and two assists.
Rony not Atlético
Rony was announced as an Atlético player in February 2025, after spending time wearing the Palmeiras shirt. He signed with Galo until the end of 2027.
During the season, Galo’s number 33 made 62 official appearances (51 as a starter), with 13 goals and five assists. Rony was Minas Gerais champion and runner-up in the Copa Sudamericana at Atlético.
It is worth remembering that, to hire Rony, Galo needed to pay 6 million Euros (around R$35 million at the time). As a result, the club is unlikely to accept any type of deal that does not involve a sale, even if for a better amount.
With a salary that exceeds R$1 million, the attacker has one of the highest salaries in Alvinegro.
I also need to highlight that one of the plans of the SAF leadership and the football department is to reduce the payroll, especially with athletes over 30 years old, and rejuvenate the squad led by coach Jorge Sampaoli.
