Asturias CESA: Semifinals Bound After Group Win vs Aragón

Asturias is already in the semifinals of the Spanish Absolute Autonomous National Team Championship after beating Aragón 3-0 in the quarterfinals, played this Saturday in San José de La Rinconada.

The tie was resolved quickly. Vicente Miguel Gázquez and Jana Villanueva opened the scoring in the mixed doubles. Shortly after, Laura Álvarez and Ruth Veiguela extended the lead in the women’s doubles. The move to the semifinals came in the men’s doubles, with the victory of Gázquez and Adolfo López, who closed the match without needing to play the singles.

In the group stage, Asturias completed a complete journey, with three victories against the Region of Murcia, Madrid and the Canary Islands, finishing as first classified in Group C. The team added the three matches 5-0, ensuring leadership and direct access to the final draw.

The Asturian team will now face Andalusia in the semifinals, in search of a place in the championship final.
