Flamengo’s conquest of the Brasileirão and the Copa Libertadores increased interest in Filipe Luís, coach of the Mengãoand, if he leaves the club, with whom he has a contract until the end of 2025, the red-black club will be interested in Artur Jorge, currently at Al-Rayyan and former coach of Botafogo.
According to Brazilian journalist Venê Casagrande, the renewal with the Brazilian coach is on hold due to several impasses, namely salary and payment of commissions. The same source adds that, at this stage, Filipe Luís is asking for something like 5 million euros per year to renew, a salary equivalent to that of Abel Ferreira, Palmeiras coach, and practically 10 times higher than what he receives now.
Casagrande reinforces that renewing with the current coach is a priority, but, if this does not happen, Artur Jorge, currently working for Al-Rayyan, from Qatar, is seen with good eyes by Flamengo’s management to succeed Filipe Luís. The Portuguese coach, who left SC Braga to reinforce Botafogo, left Brazilian football at the end of 2024, after taking the Stove to the conquest of the Brasileirão and the Copa Libertadores, in a season with successes similar to those of rival Rio de Janeiro in 2025.
