There are only four left to run for the title. Four nations hoping to win the FIFA Arab Cup next Thursday in Qatar. This Friday, the quarter-finals of the competition ended, including a tantalizing clash between Algeria and the United Arab Emirates.
This one kept all its promises since the two teams had to play a penalty shootout to decide between them. After 16 shots, it was finally the Emiratis who got their ticket to the last four thanks to Naoufel Khacef’s miss, whose attempt was stopped by goalkeeper Hamad Al-Meqebaali.
The other quarter-final this Friday pitted Jordan against Iraq. The Jordanians won thanks to a penalty from Ali Olwan at the end of the first half. They thus joined Saudi Arabia in the semi-finals, who won against Palestine on Thursday (2-1 after extra time).
The two semi-finals are scheduled for next Monday. It will start with a duel between Morocco and the United Arab Emirates at 3:30 p.m. Saudi Arabia and Jordan will then meet at 6:30 p.m. to determine the second finalist. A match for 3rd place is scheduled for Thursday (12 p.m.), the same day as the final (5 p.m.).
