After three months of waiting, the municipal gyms have finally been assigned to the sports associations. With the resolution of 19 December 2025 of the Heritage sector, the Municipality of Aprilia awarded the spaces for the next three years (expires June 2028) to 11 sports organisations, while rejecting the request of 3 other companies. Specifically, those who will be able to use nine gyms outside school hours will be Pianeta Volley, Anaspol, Asks, Asd Europa, Samurai Basket Aprilia, Pallavolando a tutto Tondo, Polisportiva Raimbow, Volley School Aprilia, Virtus Basket Aprilia, Slamsports and Judo Aprilia.
Campoleone Sport Center, Asd Olympia and Giò Volley ssd were excluded, a decision that will certainly fuel controversy given that among those not admitted there is also one of the most important volleyball clubs in the city. We are talking about Giò Volley, which seems to have been affected by the dispute that has not yet been resolved with the Municipality for the management of the tensostatic ball in Via Pergolesi. The company was in fact excluded for “failure to meet the requirements 4.2 letters c, e, f of the notice”, which specifically required: “not having incurred serious breaches in a previous relationship with the municipal administration in the management of municipal structures” and not being in situations of pending litigation, even out of court, deriving from arrears towards the body. However, the issue may not be closed, in fact it will be necessary to understand whether the clubs not admitted will appeal to the TAR of Latina against this provision.
A scenario that would not be new to Aprilia, given that in the past a dispute arose which ended up in the Administrative Court due to the non-admission of some companies to the ranking. On the other hand, the gestation of this announcement was troubled right from the start. Published late compared to the needs of interested parties (in mid-August 2025), it was harshly criticized by the associations, who loudly asked for an extension of the old ranking (which was not granted), recognizing the risk that the assignments could slip well beyond the start of the sports season, with serious repercussions on the sporting practice of registered athletes (particularly the youngest) and on the clubs themselves.
For this reason, several protest actions have been carried out over the course of these months, however probably no one thought that the award would arrive close to Christmas. On the other hand, however, it should be highlighted that the Municipality of Aprilia had to start a series of activities before being able to give the green light, the judging commission completed its work on 4 December, making the positive outcome subject to the checks of the articles. 94 and 95 of Legislative Decree no. 36/2023 of the Procurement Code. A necessary activity in a municipality that was dissolved only a few months ago due to mafia infiltration.
Returning to the announcement, the most requested gyms are those of the Pascoli and Matteotti comprehensive schools which will host four sports clubs, while the Menotti Garibaldi and Toscanini schools will be divided into two, while the gym of the Deledda school and those of the villages (Leda area, Selciatella, Campo di Carne and Casalazzara) will see the presence of only one club.
