Animal Shelter Expansion: Better Care for Strays

· After the renovation, the facilities incorporate 11 new spaces, which means between 15 and 20 additional spaces

The Department of Animal Protection has completed the expansion works of the Animal Protection Center (CPA) of the municipality. Until now, the center had 15 kennels, two small patios and a large patio, with a capacity for about 30 animals. However, the specific increase in collections made it necessary to resort to private residences. After the renovation, the facilities incorporate 11 new spaces, which means between 15 and 20 additional places, significantly increasing its capacity and improving the well-being of the animals housed.

“The City Council’s commitment is to continue improving this essential service and promote responsible coexistence between people and animals in our municipality,” says Mayor Pedro José Noguera.

Bet on adoption

With this expansion, the Torreño City Council encourages citizens to opt for adoption. “Each animal that waits at the center looks for a second chance and a responsible family that will give it a home and a decent life,” says Noguera, who recalls that animal abandonment is a crime included in the penal code.

Centauro Quiron Foundation continues to manage the CPA and provide the collection, care, maintenance and care service for the municipality’s stray animals.
