This is not wrestling, the referee rebuked Angel and Benda. Le Sy did not spare criticism
The boxing duel between Jakub Enžle and Karlos Benda brought a truly special spectacle.
The conclusion of the Clash 14 gala belonged to the giants. Champion Karlos Benda impatiently watched Jakub Enžl in the ring, with whom he argued for a long time about what the duel would actually look like. Before the match, however, it was clear that there was no bad blood between them.
The introduction was patient from both sides, Benda finally showed the initiative when, in the style of Karlos Vémola, he pressed on Enžl and worked on his ribs. “I would say that Cuba is almost passive,” Tomáš Le Sy evaluated the course of the first round, adding that he would give it to Benda.
He followed up smoothly in the second, still pushing forward. He provoked his opponent into a longer combination, but Enžl had trouble landing a clean shot. He only slowed Bendu down a bit with a bomb to the back of his head.
Another cashed right at the start of the third round, Benda complained loudly to the referee, who strongly warned Angel to watch his punches. He then reminded the fighters that it was a boxing duel. “This is not wrestling,” he emphasized. “The third round was so bland” Le Sy lamented.
In the last one, the bodybuilders butted heads. The angel scooped up the opponent with his head in the left eye area and sent him to his knees. After a short break, the fight continued, but the referee had to constantly pull the batters away, as they kept hooking into each other.
And the result? After four rounds it was a draw. So the fighters had to cope with the information that there would be an extra passage in which everything would be at stake. “I told you before—this isn’t wrestling,” said the referee. Enžl was hitting the jacks, Benda was working on the bottoms. At the end, it was clear that both of them had had enough. “It wasn’t very boxing,” stated a disappointed Le Sy.
The match eventually grabbed Benda. “A better boxer didn’t win today. The better boxer is definitely Cuba. I took it with my heart,” declared the happy muscle man, thanking his team. Václav Mikulášek was already waiting for him, promising him a battle if he won. “I keep my word, the match stands,” confirmed. “Congratulations on your win, you’re going to get miserable,” Mikulášek informed him.
And what did Enžl say about the result? “Losing is part of life, I’m not going to worry about it like I did last time,” he stated, adding that he will continue to box, but will no longer wrestle.
