TRANSFERS RSC Anderlecht has its eye on Ethan Butera, reports transfer journalist Sacha Tavolieri. The 19-year-old defender is only under contract with Ajax until the end of the season, which means he could possibly leave for free next summer. That makes him an interesting avenue for the Purple & White.
According to Tavolieri, Anderlecht has now contacted Butera’s entourage to express their interest. The people of Brussels hope to convince the young defender of a return to Neerpede, where he already received his youth training in the past. The first discussions between both parties would take place in the coming period.

However, Anderlecht is not the only club that is closely monitoring Butera’s contract situation. Sint-Truiden and Cercle Brugge are also keeping an eye on him. The defender himself will remain quietly under the spotlight for the time being. Last month he indicated that he was mainly concerned with his sporting development. “I don’t think about it too much. I focus on my growth as a player. I now get the chance to play a lot, and we’ll see what the future brings,” he said at the time.
A transfer-free departure of Butera threatens to be a serious loss for Ajax. The Amsterdam team signed him from Anderlecht in the summer of 2023 for around 1.5 million euros. If he actually leaves without a transfer fee, it would mean that Ajax will not receive a financial return on that investment.
