ISTANBUL (AA) – Head coach Pablo Laso of Anadolu Efes, which lost 80-76 to Dubai Basketball, the representative of the United Arab Emirates, in the 17th week of the Basketball European League (EuroLeague), said that they made huge mistakes.
The Spanish head coach made a statement at the press conference held after the match played at Turkcell Basketball Development Center.
Laso stated that they wanted to win the first home match in charge of the dark blue-whites, but they could not achieve this, and said, ‘It is possible to evaluate the match in two ways. If we had made the last shot, we would have celebrated the victory here. We made huge mistakes that hurt us both offensively and defensively. We know that we have a very busy match schedule. Our opponent came to Istanbul before us. We fought very well throughout the three quarters. We failed to win the game in the fourth quarter. Our players need to recover physically. We may experience such difficult situations, we need time.’ he said.
Answering a question about the mistakes they made in the match, Pablo Laso said, ‘One of our mistakes was that we dribbled too much against their defense. We need to move the ball better on offense. We gave too many second chances in defense. To be a winning team, we have to do the details much better. We need time for this. We are at the beginning of a process. At the same time, we must be seriously critical of ourselves.’ he said.

‘Beaubois was going to take the last ball, but he couldn’t find a position. That’s why Lloyd used it. Considering that Beaubois had just started playing after a long injury, they played half-back with Loyd in the match. I care about the team being good. For example; Dozier and Larkin were not there today. We called them, but it’s not because of Beaubois and Loyd. They will contribute a lot to the team. Erkan and Şehmus are also fighting very well. We need everyone in this match schedule. Everyone needs to take responsibility. It would be good to play Loyd and Beaubois together in terms of attack, but we would have serious problems in defense.
