Amateur Football: Foul Play & Hospital Dash – VIDEO

The top match at the second amateur level in Wallonia was marred by a nasty foul. In the match between number 1 Braine and number 2 Stade Verviétois, all the dolls started dancing when the captain of the home team put his foot on the head of Yassine Bennane.

The nasty foul was surprisingly not punished by the referee. Bennane initially continued to play, but was substituted on the hour mark and rushed to hospital. The Verviétois player lost a lot of blood and was stapled to the head. “He hasn’t apologized, I haven’t even received a message. He did it on purpose and this behavior is completely outrageous,” Bennane told La Dernière Heure.

“I never had any intentions of standing on his head,” Samuel Fabris explains afterwards. “At full speed you can see he’s falling in front of me and I’m trying to avoid him. The ref who was three meters away confirmed it wasn’t intentional.”

“I immediately apologized,” the captain contradicts his victim. “Fortunately, he was able to resume the match. Since the incident, I have received a lot of messages that do not belong in the football world. Football must remain a sport, no place for threats and insults,” Fabris concludes.

Brainois eventually won the top match 2-0 and is therefore alone in the lead with three points more than Verviétois.
