Fundación Caja Rural de Aragón has held the Gala for the delivery of the 2025 Excellence Scholarships, which recognize the joint effort in the academic and sports fields of young students from the territory where the entity is present. In this eighth edition, the Board of Trustees of the Foundation has awarded 20 scholarships worth 1,000 euros each.

The call received 137 applications, with a majority participation from Zaragoza (95), followed by Huesca (33), La Rioja (5) and Catalonia (4). Of the total number of candidates, 79 were female and 58 were male, which reflects the growing female presence in competitive sports.

The six from the province of Huesca who have received this aid are Alejandro Gállego and Gonzalo Isábal from Badminton Huesca, Martín Polo and Iván Llena from judo and associated sports and Candela Vidal from equestrian

The scholarship recipients study ESO, Baccalaureate or Intermediate Training Cycles in the 2024/2025 academic year. The average academic grade of those selected for this edition is 8.52, while the majority are state champions and several have competed in international events.

This year two new disciplines have been incorporated: cyclocross and equestrian in tumbling mode, expanding the sports range that already includes swimming, judo, athletics, underwater activities, handball, mountaineering, badminton and skating, which has once again been the protagonist with several representatives among the winners.

These scholarships are a recognition of the commitment and perseverance of those who combine studies and sport at the highest level. They are the future of national sport and represent the values ​​that we want to promote from the Foundation.”, stated Luis Ignacio Lucas, general director of Caja Rural de Aragón and president of its Foundation.
