Alta Badia Slalom: Noel Wins, Vinatzer 7th – Skiing Results

In the fourth slalom of the season the Frenchman is the fastest in the first heat, the Italian at 71/100

Clement Noel puts everyone in line in the first heat of the Alta Badia slalom, but the race remains wide open. The Frenchman, fresh from his outing in Val d’Isere, was the best at picking up the pace on the Gran Risa track. His 53″30 remained undefeated, but there are 12 opponents within a second of delay and among them there is also Alex Vinatzer.

The blue, who started with 19th, was unable to push hard at the top on aggressive snow, but from mid-track he changed gear, in the final stretch he recovered 13/100 from Noel to finish 7th at 78/100.“The slope holds well, I had good sensations from the middle onwards. I know that at the top I have to be more active – says Vinatzer to Rai microphones -. The snow is very dry, even when you push hard you don’t go too fast, but it’s nice to ski”. After the certainties in the giant slalom, Vinatzer also confirms the progress in “his” slalom. In the second heat it will be a fight for the hundredth. In front, in addition to Noel, he has McGrath (9/100 from Noel), Meillard (26/100), Gstrein (36/100), Haugan (last year’s winner at 51/100) and Kolega (60/100). Further behind are Kristoffersen (at 87/100) and Braathen (at 1″00). Tommaso Sala finishes at 1″67.

The second round will start at 1.30pm.
