Vladimir Petkovic chose his men. This Wednesday, as Algeria enters the African Cup of Nations against Sudan, the Fennecs coach has drawn up an eleven around his new goalkeeper Luca Zidane and his star Riyad Mahrez.
Selectable with Algeria since September, the son of legend Zinedine Zidane will play his second match in the colors of the Fennecs. The first dates back to October 14, against Uganda during qualifying for the 2026 World Cup (2-1). The Granada player was preferred to Anthony Mandrea (Caen) and Ousama Benbot (USM Alger).
The composition of Algeria (4-3-3):
Zidane – Belgahli, Mandi, Bestbaini, Aït-Nouri – Bennacer, Chaïbi, Boudooui – Mahrez, Bounedjah, Amoura.
The rest of Vladimir Petkovic’s lineup was expected. In attack, serial scorer Mohammed Amoura will accompany Baghdad Boundedjah and captain Riyad Mahrez. Paris FC winger Ilan Kebbal will start on the bench.
In midfield, former Marseillais Ismaël Bennacer will play alongside Niçois Hicham Boudaoui and Farès Chaïbi. They will try to prevent their defense, made up of Rafik Belghali, Aïssa Mandi, Ramy Bensebaïni and Rayan Aït-Nouri, from Sudanese pressure.
