Algeria have announced an impressive squad for the Africa Cup of Nations. The squad is full of legionnaires and big names: a protégé of Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, a teammate of Marcel Sabitzer at Dortmund, a midfield talent who was part of half of Europe last summer – and the name Zidane also appears in the Algeria squad.

As with the ÖFB team, there are also some well-known Germany legionnaires in the Algerian squad. Attention: The Algerians are not just followers of their teams, but real supporters and guarantees of success.
The best-known is probably Sabitzer’s teammate Ramy Bensebaini from Borussia Dortmund – known for his passionate defensive behavior and feared for his penalty-taking strength. Top talent Ibrahim Maza from Bayer Leverkusen and Fares Chaïbi from Eintracht Frankfurt pull the strings in midfield. And at the front there is another teammate of an ÖFB star: Mohamed Amoura from VfL Wolfsburg.

The biggest name: Zidane
Luca Zidane, the son of world champion Zinedine Zidane, will be part of the team. The 27-year-old goalkeeper currently plays for Spanish second division club FC Granada. It was only in October that he was called up to the Algerian national team for the first time. Despite his youth experience in French national teams, Zidane saw little chance of participating in the World Cup in the professional field due to the enormous competition. Therefore he chose Algeria.

The man from Manchester
However, the biggest star in the Algerian squad is a Premier League player. We’re talking about Rayan Aït-Nouri, who moved from Wolverhampton to Manchester City in the summer. With a market value of around 40 million euros, the 22-year-old is the most valuable player in the Algerian team – and is currently worth more than any player in Ralf Rangnick’s team.
