The Councilor for Sports, Alberto Belda, presented today the XXIX Edition of the prestigious Ciutat del Nadal Archery Trophy, accompanied by the secretary of the Santa Lucía Alcoy Sports Club, Evaristo Alcaraz, and by the athlete and greatest exponent of the modality, Àngels Alcaraz. The competition, which will be held next Saturday, December 13 in two sessions (morning and afternoon), reinforces its position as one of the events with the most history and roots in the city.
This edition stands out for its record participation with 220 archers from all over the Valencian Community. The high interest has forced the organization to close the registration quota, even leaving people out. The Santa Lucía Alcoy Sports Club will provide important local representation with 30 goalkeepers.
In addition to being the oldest shooting in the Valencian Community, the organization has highlighted the improvement of the facilities with the increase in the number of targets. In total, 28 will be used, the highest number in the history of the trophy.
The Councilor for Sports, Alberto Belda, highlighted: «The Ciutat del Nadal Trophy is one of the most beloved and longest-running sporting events in our city. Getting 220 participants and having to expand to 28 targets demonstrates the vitality of this sport in Alcoy and the great promotional work carried out by the Santa Lucía Sports Club. “It is a pride that the oldest circulation in the Valencian Community has its home here.”
