Joao Fonseca and Carlos Alcaraz faced each other in Miami at the beginning of December

On the ATP tour, fans still have to wait for the first duel between Carlos Alcaraz and Joao Fonseca. So the two youngsters took their fate into their own hands and met at the beginning of December for an exhibition match in Miami, which the world number one from Spain narrowly won.

There will be another showdown by the end of 2026 at the latest. As was announced shortly before Christmas, Alcaraz and Fonseca will have another exhibition fight on December 12th next year. This time the venue will be Allianz Parque in Sao Paolo, Brazil, which is usually the home of the Palmeiras soccer team.

A duel on the regular tour could only take place at the Australian Open (January 18 to February 1, 2026). Because while Fonseca will contest the two 250cc events in Brisbane (January 4th to 11th) and Adelaide (January 12th to 17th) before the first Grand Slam tournament of the year, Alcaraz will only open the new season directly in Melbourne.
