“Ajax wants to get a number 6 and possibly an extra wing defender,” Voetbal International wrote on Friday. The club-less Takehiro Tomiyasu is seriously in the picture for the latter role; the 27-year-old Japanese can sign a performance contract until the end of the season.
Resink is therefore a candidate for the six position. “The Amsterdam native can be picked up for a reasonable amount next summer, but that does not apply to this winter.” The question is therefore whether Ajax wants to strike in January or not yet.
There is also philosophizing about hiring an experienced worker, who can then take on the ‘Jordan Henderson role’. “There are also plenty of options for that variant.” However, names are not yet mentioned. It could well be that James McConnell (back to Liverpool) and Kian Fitz-Jim (wants more playing time) will make way in January.
