Long straight hair and black dress.
Ahn Se-young, who appeared on the podium in a completely different mood than on the court, once again proved that she is the ‘Badminton Empress’.
Ahn Se-young beat world number two Wang Zhiyi and her nemesis Chen Yu-fei and won the World Badminton Federation’s Female Player of the Year honor for three consecutive years.
Furthermore, she was selected as the ‘Female Athlete of the Year chosen by players’ and won two awards.
“If the gold medals I have won while competing are the result of my efforts, I think this award is even more special because I received it because many people looked favorably on me.”
Building momentum, Ahn Se-young will participate in the World Tour Finals, the last tournament of the season.
If Ahn Se-young, who already has 10 wins this year, wins this tournament, she will match the record for most wins in a single season set by Japan’s Kento Momota in 2019.
If she achieves 11 wins in a season, she will become the first female player to do so, creating a new record in world badminton history.
The World Tour Finals is a virtual king-of-the-match competition in which only the top eight players in each event can participate, and the top ranked players, led by world number one Ahn Se-young, will appear all at once.
However, China’s Chen Yufei, who is considered Ahn Se-young’s opponent, did not participate in accordance with the competition regulations that allow only two players per country per event.
The group stage will be divided into two groups of four players, and a preview final has been announced against Japan’s Yamaguchi, ranked fourth in the world, who is in a tight match with an opponent record of 15 wins and 15 losses.
Meanwhile, the ‘golden combination’ of men’s doubles, Seung-jae Seo and Won-ho Kim, will also appear and challenge Ahn Se-young for the record for most wins in a single season.
